The Story Behind The Design
When she is wistful, Sasha* finds herself wishing her life was different.
From young, life for her in the village was hard with little chance of education. When she got older, she was quickly married off to an abusive husband. Sasha worked day and night only to hand over her wages to her husband who squandered it all on alcohol. It was the birth of her two daughters that changed her perspective towards life.
Sasha yearned to give her children a better life which led her to accept a job in Singapore. But she arrived only to be forced into working gruelling hours at an entertainment club, intoxicated against her will and eventually sexually exploited. Her bosses starved her and constantly threatened to send her back without her pay, just so she would obey them.
When she was first referred to Hagar, Sasha was in a fragile emotional state but managed to pull herself together by focusing on her two daughters. Since then, she has bravely stood up to her trafficker in court and taken on new jobs. Because if there is one thing Sasha believes she can change, it would be that of her daughters’ lives.
